The Critic Yearbook

Pinkerton Academy's yearbook, The Criticis designed and produced by students who take the English electives, Yearbook Production and Design and Advanced Yearbook. Students who are unable to take these two classes are welcome to join the staff as an extra-curricular activity.

Senior Information

Senior Pictures

Dear 2024 Seniors and Parents/Guardians:

Senior Pictures

I hope your summer break has been restful and enjoyable. If you have not already scheduled an appointment with Mark Lawrence Photography, please do so within the next month.

An important part of the senior yearbook is the senior section of the yearbook which contains the portrait of each member of the senior class who has his/her photo taken with Mark Lawrence Photographers prior to October 30.  This section goes to the yearbook publisher by early December.  To meet this deadline, you should have had your senior photographed during the summer months or scheduled an appointment for the early fall.  Mark Lawrence has agreed that all images submitted will be of the proper size, resolution, format, and color and must meet the school’s requirements for clothing attire.

To be included in the Senior section of the yearbook, your portrait must be taken by Mark Lawrence Photographers, Pinkerton’s official photographer.  A complimentary headshot session will be provided for those seniors who wish to purchase their photos elsewhere or who only want a senior photo taken for submission in the yearbook. The complimentary headshot session is planned for September 13 and 14 at Pinkerton Academy during underclassmen photo days.

Again, yearbook photos must come from Mark Lawrence Photographers (they are Pinkerton’s official photographer). The school’s policy is not to use junior class photos and/or student ID photos for those who do not get their senior pictures taken with the school photographer by the due date. We do not want anyone left out of the 2024 yearbook, so do not delay.

Finally, I encourage you to consider purchasing a parent ad to celebrate your child's accomplishments and to help defray the cost of the yearbook. The attached flier explains the size and cost of the ads. If you purchase an ad before November 23, you will receive a $20.00 discount on the price of the ad.

If you ever have a question or concern, please check out the Yearbook (Critic) tab on Pinkerton’s website or contact me at [email protected].

Best regards,

Mr. Timothy Cain, CJE

Yearbook Adviser

Pinkerton’s Critic was one of only 494 yearbooks selected from approximately 3,000. Yearbook Distribution

Before Writing in Your Yearbook

Make sure that...

Your book has 320 consecutive pages. If you are missing pages, please report it immediately to Mr. Cain, the yearbook adviser, at [email protected].

Once written in, exchanges can only be made for books with major printing flaws, such as pages upside down, pages missing, etc. If you find this type of flaw after writing in the book, we will replace it, but we cannot allow you to keep both copies.

Because the yearbook is a student publication, satisfaction is not guaranteed to the purchaser. Refunds will not be given for minor errors such as poor photo quality, misspelled names, omissions, etc.

As soon as you finish reading this, put your name in the book. Once, where it’s easy to locate and once in the middle of the book where only you know where it is in case it is stolen. We are always saddened when yearbooks disappear, but we cannot replace lost or stolen books. Replacement books will cost $52 cash. You will need to contact your class adviser first to make certain you are on a waiting list.

While it is our goal to provide a record of students and activities for each school year, we cannot guarantee inclusion of every student’s portrait. Pinkerton Academy depends on outside vendors to take student portraits and deliver them in a timely fashion for inclusion in the yearbook.

The Yearbook staff welcomes positive comments and criticism. However, the public must realize that the yearbook is the product of student journalists. Many of the students have no prior experience with journalism writing or design. This is not an adult product; it is a 320 page yearbook created between the months of September and March by teenagers for the Pinkerton community.

If the purchaser has a comment or complaint about the current volume of the yearbook, it must be made in writing within 10 days of distribution. Letters should be short and to the point with specific references to pages. Verbally abusive and accusatory language will not be accepted. The letter should be sent to the attention of the yearbook staff.

Thank you.
