Monthly Update - February 2025
February 25th, 2025
Good afternoon,
If you are driving by campus this week, you may notice the portion of the old social studies wing being destroyed. You may see Derry Fire conducting some training as well. Phase 2 has officially begun and will be completed later this spring with construction of the new parking area, egress, and green space. We are excited to see this project come to completion and are looking forward to the continued positive impacts on our campus community.
The Start Time Committee recently met again and is considering a 30-minute later start. In the coming weeks, a survey will be going out again to our community. For students to be able to complete the survey, their parent/guardian will need to opt them in. The committee is comprised of representatives from all of our sending towns, and while we gather input from our community members, they will be doing the same from their school communities. We appreciate the work the committee has done so far and look forward to hearing from our community members.
Since the start of this school year, a task force has been looking at our current cell phone policy and its implementation and enforcement across campus. We know that there are strong feelings on this issue, and we are looking for input from our students, families, and staff. We will be conducting a survey about cell phone usage in school in the coming weeks, and we hope that all of our community members will participate.
On Sunday I enjoyed attending the 40th annual Alumni Florida Reunion. It is always great to hear stories about the impact that Pinkerton has had on so many people over the years. Pinkerton Pride really does run deep!
I hope you are enjoying February break, and I look forward to seeing everyone back on campus ready for spring!
Sincerely,
Dr. Timothy J. Powers
Head of School
