Monthly Update - January 2025
January 28th, 2025
Good afternoon,
Earlier this month, the new Social Studies Center opened for students and staff in our ACT and NECC programs. Seeing students enter the new space and start the new year in their new learning environment was exciting. With the start of semester 2, Social Studies classes started in the new building today. We are excited about all the opportunities this project will bring to our students, faculty, and staff to meet their needs and goals. We are holding an open house for members of our community to visit and see the new building on Wednesday, February 5th from 6 - 8 pm, and we look forward to welcoming you.
With the completion of the new building, our project enters phase 2. Phase 2 will consist of removing the remaining portion of the Social Studies Wing and creating a new parking area, egress, and green space. The current work consists of working through the remaining wing and doing all the disconnects to utilities for the demolition work. We are also working with Derry Fire so they can have the opportunity to do training in the remaining wing.
After a decade-long pause, we're thrilled to announce the revival of our international program! We're partnering with Melt Education to relaunch this initiative, which will include a homestay program managed by Melt. Our goal is to create a diverse student body from around the world, enriching our school community. We'll begin slowly next school year to ensure proper support for both students and the school. More details will be shared in the coming months.
We are continuing to investigate the feasibility of any changes to our start time. There will be no change to the start time for next year. As the committee continues to work on the complexity of the issue, we will continue to update our community.
The 2025-26 school calendar was approved by the Board of Trustees and can be found here.
We are looking forward to what 2025 has in store!
Sincerely,
Dr. Timothy J. Powers
Head of School
