Weekly Update - 2/24/23

February 24th, 2023 by Tim Powers

Good afternoon,

New Hampshire DECA held its statewide competition February 8-10, with 360 competitors from 15 schools in attendance. Pinkerton DECA had 33 students attend, earning a total of 36 medals, with 18 students earning 1st or 2nd place overall in their event(s), qualifying them for the DECA's International Career Development Conference in Orlando, Florida. Pinkerton will be bringing 24 students to this conference in April!

Additionally, Pinkerton DECA was one of four New Hampshire schools to earn Gold Re-Certification for our school store, Campus Corner, through a rigorous certification process which consisted of a 20-page paper written by this year's store managers, Ridge Crossman and Jack McGarrahan. In addition, Pinkerton DECA was one of five New Hampshire schools to earn the highest level of recognition for community service and promotional campaigns, through a chapter campaign called Thrive.

Pinkerton DECA members were also recognized for several individual honors. Please see the website for a list of names and recognitions. Congratulations to DECA for these outstanding accomplishments!

On Tuesday night, 112 students were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) for the 2022-2023 school year. These students were selected for their outstanding academic achievements, leadership qualities, and dedication to their Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. There is at least one student from each of our 18 recognized CTE programs. The National Technical Honor Society is the highest award for excellence in CTE education, and Pinkerton Academy is proud to have so many students recognized for their achievements. For a list of the students inducted, please visit our website. Congratulations!

This weekend wrestling and bowling had their state tournaments. Six wrestlers will move on to the Meet of Champions. Congratulations to Aiden Doyle, Cam McMahon, Mike Follo, Cam Arbogast, Nels de Almeida, and Tom LaCroix! Yesterday, alpine skier Chris Bennett placed 7th in slalom at the Meet of Champions and earned a spot on the NH to ski in the Eastern High School Championship. Good luck, Chris!

It’s hard to believe, but it’s already time to start planning for the spring sports season. Team meetings will be held Tuesday, March 7th. You can find the locations for each team meeting here.

Enjoy a safe break next week.

Sincerely,

Dr. Timothy J. Powers
