Weekly Update - 10/7/22

October 7th, 2022 by Tim Powers

Good afternoon,

Monday mornings can be tough. Even loving our jobs, school, or where we are headed for the week, coming back from the weekend can make for a challenging start to the week. This week, however, I had a great start as students from Mrs. Parenti’s Career Communications & Business Writing came to interview Mrs. Tartarilla and me, practicing skills they have learned so far this year. The students had some tough questions, but it was a nice way to start the week and see and hear about their journey so far.

Toward the end of last week, the students involved in one of our exchange programs said goodbye to their counterparts from Colegio Claret Askartza in the Basque region of Spain. Twenty students and two teachers spent two weeks with us and took part in Mack Plaque, club fair, homecoming dance, classes, and many other school events while also taking part in fall New Hampshire traditions such as apple picking. We are excited to reopen the doors to these exchange programs and look forward to the continued benefits for our students and community.

One month from now, we will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Stockbridge Theatre. Over the past twenty years, there have been numerous artists who have performed for our community and been in our classrooms. Our students have put their talents on display in theater productions, musical performances, and other class activities. The Stockbridge Theatre has been a great addition to our community and has provided important educational experiences for our students. The anniversary weekend will include a performance by Louis Prima, Jr. on Saturday night and showcase student and alumni artwork and performances on Sunday night. The chorus room will also be renamed and dedicated to honor Mr. Thomas Quigley, retired Fine Arts Department Head, teacher, and director of numerous plays and performances. We hope you will join us in celebrating the weekend of November 5th and 6th.

The fall colors and crisp air this long weekend will remind us that fall is definitely here. Whether you have a busy weekend ahead or are just relaxing, I hope you’re able to get out and take a walk or ride and enjoy it.

Sincerely,

Dr. Timothy J. Powers
Headmaster
