Weekly Update - 2/10/23

February 10th, 2023 by Tim Powers

Good afternoon,

This week was National School Counselor Week. Throughout the year, school counselors work with students in many ways that are important to their time at Pinkerton and beyond. We take the opportunity this week to celebrate the work they do and thank them for their dedication.

Last month 12 Student Council and 6 National Honor Society members attended the LEAD Spark Conference in Washington, DC. Sponsored by the National Association of Secondary School Principals, student leaders from across the country learned from each other and experts. You can check out pictures and read more about their trip on the website. We are grateful for the unique experiences our students have to grow and excel in new ways and thankful to our community members who help support these opportunities!

Tuesday night, junior Jackson Marshall became the 5th boys basketball player in school history to score 1,000 points. Congratulations Jackson on this accomplishment and for the support of your teammates, coaches, family, and friends.

This weekend some of our teams enter into tournament action. Gymnastics competes Saturday at 1 at A2 Gym, Swimming travels to UNH for a 7 am start, and on Sunday Track travels to Dartmouth for a 10 am start. On Tuesday, Alpine Ski travels to Mt. Sunapee for their meet. Some sub-varsity teams are also in tournament action this weekend and in the coming weeks. The full schedule of events can be found here.

If you’re looking for some great deals and a way to support our students, come check out the Music Department’s Flea Market this Saturday. Proceeds will help fund their trip to New York City this April. You can find more information on the website

Next week is Random Acts of Kindness week. We look forward to catching students, faculty, and staff in these random acts and celebrating “paying it forward” within our community. I hope you will join us in this effort and share your random acts with us through social media by tagging Pinkerton accounts and using the hashtag #AstrosRAOK.

Have a good weekend.

Sincerely,

Dr. Timothy J. Powers
Head of School
