Weekly Update 1/3/25

January 3rd, 2025 by Mike Perez

Hello Pinkerton Community,

I would like to extend a warm welcome back to school!  I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable holiday break filled with memories and quality time with family and friends. I  am excited to welcome you back to campus and look forward to a productive and successful end of semester one and transition into semester two.

One of the major events happening on campus as we return is the opening of the new building.  Our ACT and NECC programs have moved in and started classes today. Our Social Studies classes will start there in the new semester.

The coming weeks and months will be a busy and important period for our school. Please be sure to regularly check for important messages from the school community to stay informed about upcoming events and deadlines.

Again, welcome back!

Weekly Highlights:

Khanmigo Partnership:  NHED (New Hampshire Department of Education) is partnering with Khan Academy to offer Khanmigo for educators and students in grades 5-12 statewide. Khanmigo, an AI platform, serves as a teaching assistant for educators and a tutor guide for students. To learn more, please read the whole letter from our Dean of Academics, Mr. Lee here

Photography Club Calendar: The Pinkerton Photography Club's 2025 Calendar is here! Once again, it features beautiful photos captured by our talented students. Purchasing one directly supports our club, and the calendars look great in classrooms and offices! Email Ms. Tauer ([email protected]) or Ms. Root ([email protected]) to order.

Weather Conditions and Roads: It’s that time of year! We urge everyone coming to campus to be aware of potential icy conditions. Our Buildings & Grounds crew does an amazing job, but there are places where we cannot use salt. Please take care to keep to cleared paths and wear appropriate footwear for the weather conditions. Thank you!

Dismissal Calls to Attendance Reminder:  If a parent must call to dismiss their student, we ask that they do so as early in the day as possible. We are unable to interrupt classroom instruction to accommodate last-minute dismissals. Immediate dismissals by phone will not be honored except in cases of emergency.  To efficiently manage student dismissals, it has been the administrative team’s best practice and we kindly ask parents/guardians to provide a flexible two-hour window when calling to pick up their child. This will help us better coordinate student departures out of academic classes.

Class of 2020 Extracurricular Grants:  There are still funds left for the Class of 2020 Extracurricular Grants!  These grants are for students needing funding to participate in an extracurricular experience beyond the normal activities of a Pinkerton club.  Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until the allotted annual funds have been awarded.  The application can be found at https://forms.gle/hGFckV7pXMtut7Eq5.
