Weekly Update 12/13/24
December 13th, 2024
Hello Pinkerton Community,
As the holiday break approaches, excitement and anticipation fill our school community. It’s hard to believe we are just a week away from this well-deserved time of rest and celebration!
The past few months have showcased the incredible resilience, dedication, and hard work of our students, faculty, and parents. This upcoming week promises to be vibrant across campus, with engaging lessons, festive activities, and a joyful atmosphere that embodies the holiday spirit. Our students have put in tremendous effort, and I am confident they will finish strong before the break.
This week, we'd like to highlight Ms. Rosa Matos, Pinkerton Academy's Admissions & Enrollment Management Specialist. After graduating from Emerson College, Rosa began her career as an Associate Producer at WMUR News 9 in Manchester. She produced the noon news and associate-produced the weekday 5pm, 5:30pm., 6pm, the 6-10am weekend shows as well as serving as the weekend assignment editor for the 10pm and 11pm broadcasts. Following her time at WMUR, Rosa served as a Special Assistant to Senator Jeanne Shaheen, where she liaised between New Hampshire residents and federal agencies, focusing on immigration issues. Her connection to WMUR led her to her first role at Pinkerton as Executive Assistant to the Head of School. After three years, she took a brief hiatus to work as a Project Manager at the Harvard Kennedy School.
Late last year, Rosa returned to Pinkerton Academy as the Admissions and Enrollment Management Specialist. She is now dedicated to showcasing Pinkerton's exceptional educational offerings. When asked about her most significant takeaway from returning to PA, Rosa emphasized the privilege of building relationships with students and families, helping them find a safe and engaging high school experience.
Weekly Highlights:
Khanmigo Partnership: NHED (New Hampshire Department of Education) is partnering with Khan Academy to offer Khanmigo for educators and students in grades 5-12 statewide. Khanmigo, an AI platform, serves as a teaching assistant for educators and a tutor guide for students. To learn more, please read the whole letter from our Dean of Academics, Mr. Lee here.
Exam Packs: Pinkerton Class of 2026 is offering Exam Packs! This exciting fundraiser is a small gift gesture of support for your Pinkerton student during one of the most stressful times of the academic year - Midterms and Finals. For only $10 each, the Exam Packs may include pencils, highlighters, index cards, fidget toys, snacks and gum in a small treat bag. Exam packs will be delivered to students prior to the start of midterms/finals. Sale ends Friday January 3, 2025 at 2pm. Order here.
Photography Club Calendar: The Pinkerton Photography Club's 2025 Calendar is here! Once again, it features beautiful photos captured by our talented students. Purchasing one directly supports our club, and the calendars look great in classrooms and offices! Email Ms. Tauer ([email protected]) or Ms. Root ([email protected]) to order.
Weather Conditions and Roads: It’s that time of year! We urge everyone coming to campus to be aware of potential icy conditions. Our Buildings & Grounds crew does an amazing job, but there are places where we cannot use salt. Please take care to keep to cleared paths and wear appropriate footwear for the weather conditions. Thank you!
Course Showcase for Sophomores: Sophomores and families, check your email for information about the Course Showcase, an opportunity for sophomores to preview possible electives for next year and beyond. It will be running during Flex December 10th, 12th, 17th, 18th and 19th. Students are encouraged to sign up and participate as many days as they would like.
Warm Clothing Drive: The World Language Honor Society is collecting gently used coats, boots, hats, gloves, and hoodies in all sizes. Donations can be brought to Ms. Mitchell in room 200 or 60 in the Shepard Building. Email [email protected] with any questions.
