Weekly Update 9/13/24

September 13th, 2024 by Mike Perez

Dear Pinkerton Academy Community,

We made it through the first week of classes, and it has really been great having the energy of everyone back on campus. Let’s keep it up throughout the year!

As the year goes on, I will use this update to feature some people and departments who make Pinkerton special and to highlight things that are happening on campus.

Weekly Highlights:

Media Center: The media center is no longer open for study halls in the Academy Building. Students can go to the Saltmarsh Library for study halls.

Pinkerton Academy Access Control Update: Please be reminded that Pinkerton Academy is now fully online and has implemented the Access Control System. Students are strongly encouraged to get in the habit of carrying their ID cards at all times. Once all ID cards have been distributed, carrying them will become mandatory for all students.

Voting Day - September 10, 2024: Despite our best efforts to make an in-person day work on September 10th, numerous complications with bus transportation have led us to switch to a remote learning day.

Mum Sale: The Class of 2028 and FCCLA are hosting a mum sale fundraiser. These beautiful nine-inch pots cost $9.50 each and come in assorted colors from Delahunty Garden and Landscape Center. To order: Complete and send in the Mum Sale Order Form or visit MySchoolBucks.com to order online. All orders are due by  WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 11th.  They can be completed online, mailed or dropped off to Ms. Brown in room 300 or 301 of the Science Building. Pick-up will be in front of the Science Building on Saturday, September 21 from 9-11 AM.

Open House: On Wednesday, September 18th, we will be hosting a Fall Open House for prospective students. We are excited to be able to connect with future Astros and their families through these efforts. You can email our Enrollment and Admissions Specialist Rosa Matos with any questions: [email protected]

Meet the Teachers: Wednesday, September 25th, we have an early release and it is our Meet the Teachers Night (previously called Open House). This is an opportunity for families to come to campus and meet their student’s teachers, learn about the classes, and see our campus.

Weekly Shout Outs:

SHOUT OUTS TO…

Mary Alibina (IT) - for going above and beyond this summer to get us ready to go for the school year.

Derek Earle (CTE) - for always being on top of things and keeping me on my toes.

STUDENT SHOUT OUTS:

Our Sending Town School Board Liaisons: Rebecca Gill, Hailey Mansur, Anthony Henry, Sarah Urban, and Kasarah Juneau – these students volunteer to represent Pinkerton at their town school board meetings, and we are proud of the work they do! We still need a representative from Auburn, so if you are interested, email Ms. Puls at [email protected].
