Weekly Update 5/17/24
May 17th, 2024
Pinkerton Families and Friends,
The Pinkerton Academy Physical Education (PE) department serves as a dynamic hub within the school, promoting physical, mental, and social development. The faculty within the department are committed to promoting lifelong fitness and wellness, and the department offers a diverse range of activities and educational experiences tailored to meet the needs and interests of all students. Through a comprehensive curriculum, students are introduced to a variety of sports, fitness concepts, and recreational pursuits. Whether it's team sports like basketball and soccer, or individual activities such as yoga and weightlifting the department strives to cater to a wide spectrum of interests and abilities.
The department of 7 dedicated teachers is led by the Associate Dean of Academics for Fine Arts and Physical Education, Mike Adams. Together they reflect on and evaluate their curriculum and teaching methods, always striving to do what is best for students.
Beyond the exceptional work they do in their classes, the PE department is one of the most flexible groups on campus. Throughout the year, there are several times they need to pivot and adjust their plans to accommodate events being held in the gymnasium, and they do so with a spirit of cooperation. This week they have had to move their classes out of the building while the gym is being converted for the prom. Thank you!
