📣Announcing our October "Unsung Astro" Award winner: Keira Brochu! 🌟
Unsung Astros are those students who (often quietly) help create a positive Pinkerton community. "The band recently traveled to the Dover Band Show and sat in the student section with the other bands performing that night. Toward the end of the night, Keira went underneath the bleachers to clean up trash that had fallen beneath the bands. Keira demonstrated the pride our program takes in representing Pinkerton in the most positive light even when nobody is looking."

PSATs, SATs, and Senior Palooza
School starts at 7:15 am (like usual), then ends around 11:15am! Grab and go lunches are available for purchase in the senior cafe, and buses leave between 11:45 am and noon.
If you are taking PSATs or SATs, make sure to check your email to find out anything you need to bring on test day!

Our students have been hard at work to make this show a success! In addition to our talented actors, our stage crew has worked diligently to build beautiful sets and be sure everything is in place while our student musicians are bringing the score to life from the pit. Last Monday, the Pinkerton Academy Math Team competed at the 50th New Hampshire State Math Meet. There were 39 schools at the competition and our team took 6th place in the Large Division.
Every year, students are chosen to participate in the American Region Mathematics League competition based on their performance at the state meet. This year, Boris Hadjiev '26 has been invited to participate in the competition.
Competition members:
Senior Captains: Luke Abanilla, and Mira Kondor.
Freshmen: Zachary Greenberg, and Shiv Patel.
Sophomores: Boris Hadjiev, Yianni Kalampalikis, and Heer Patel.
Juniors: Xianglin Zheng.
Seniors: Junaid Ali, and Nica Lai.

🇨🇦 World Language Quebec City Trip!
In January the World Language Department brought 36 Students to Canada for a cultural experience. The group had a great time learning more about the language and culture of Quebec including the following highlights:
- 🎶 Singing Traditional Songs / Eating Traditional Meal at Sugar Shack
- 🐶 Dog Sledding
- 🌆 Historical Tour of Quebec City
- 🗡️ Battle of Quebec Reenactment between English and French from 1759
- 🎡 Toboggan Ride
- 🏡 Ice Hotel Tour
- ❄️ Worlds Largest Snow Tubing/Rafting Park

Dr. Powers may not be a natural artist, but he recently learned a bit more about Graphic Design when he attended Ms. Hult's class. The students were very knowledgeable and helped him through the process of creating a digital design.
Our Fine Arts Department offers many classes to meet students' diverse needs and interests, from beginner to advanced. We are so fortunate to have passionate educators who spark inspiration in our students every day.

He is in his seventh year of teaching at Pinkerton and is an alumni of the electrical program he now teaches.

Mr. Nathan Phillips, a Pinkerton Academy electrical teacher, has been named the CTE Teacher of the Year by NHCTA, the statewide professional association that advances and supports career and technical education. He is in his seventh year of teaching at Pinkerton and is an alumni of the electrical program he now teaches.
Phillips is 1 of 14 inspiring New Hampshire-based CTE teacher finalists who has committed his life’s work to serving students and igniting interest in career and technical education. He goes above and beyond to ensure his students are not only prepared for immediate success in the electrical field, but also equipped with lifelong skills and adaptability for diverse career paths.
Jen Haskins, Pinkerton CTE Director shares, “Nathan’s passion for CTE shines through in his commitment to developing well-rounded individuals prepared for diverse career paths. His program's emphasis on early industry immersion, continuous improvement, and academic rigor equips students with the skills and adaptability to thrive in the workforce and beyond."
Phillips will be honored on June 8, 2024 at the 30th annual New Hampshire Excellence in Education Awards (EDies). Congratulations on this well-deserved recongnition, Mr. Phillips!

Pinkerton Academy's Career and Technical Education Center proudly announces the induction of 95 students into the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) for the 2023-2024 school year. These students have been chosen for their exceptional academic achievements, leadership qualities, and dedication to their Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. Among them, there is representation from each of Pinkerton’s 18 recognized CTE programs.
To qualify for NTHS, students must be in the final year of their CTE program (Level 2), maintain a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0 (85) by fall progress reports, achieve a grade of 90 or higher in their CTE program by fall progress reports, and maintain the highest standard of personal and professional conduct at all times.

If you believe Spotify, it's Taylor Swift, but I honestly have no idea.
🏫 Fav part of your job?
Getting to talk about practical knowledge, like how credit cards and bank accounts work, is amazing. It feels like you're contributing to something that is going to play a role in the life of every person who walks into your room. Hopefully, it makes their life a little better!

📕 Students arrived for the first day of classes on December 4, 1815. Girls were taught in a separate department from 1817 into the 1820s, but after the Adams Female Academy opened in East Derry Village in 1824, none were admitted to Pinkerton again until 1853! 🔴

- Gymnastics winning the NHIAA State Championship.
- Boys Track & Field win the NHIAA State Championship.
- Girls Track & Field placing third in the championship.
- Boys & Girls Swim placed fourth in their championships.
Regular Season Wins:
- Girls Hockey win against Exeter, 8-3.
- Boys Basketball win against Bedford, 91-79.

She is still in training, but she will be out and around on campus when she's not napping in the Freshman Counseling office.
This effort, led by Kathleen Albert, will provide another resource to support our students. We are so happy to have Luna here with us on campus.

🧬 Experiment Time! 🔬
A-level physics wrapped up their 2-dimension motion unit in December. Students calculated the position and then placed rings for a projectile to move through. They then participated in the annual siege day.

🇺🇸 Student Council and NHS visit Washington, D.C. 🌎
Members of Student Council and the National Honor Society recently attended the LEAD Conference in Washington, D.C. Sponsored by the National Association of Secondary School Principals, the conference seeks to provide student leaders with opportunities for peer learning, expertise-sharing, and networking. While they were there, they did some sightseeing, including a visit to the Pentagon.
We are proud to be able to provide another great opportunity for our students to learn and explore their futures beyond the classroom.

📕 What do you teach? I teach Chemistry and Biology.
🏆 Academic Achievements: I have a B.A. in Biology from UVM, and received a post baccalaureate teaching certificate from NHTI.
🔴 How many years at Pinkerton? This is my fifth year teaching at Pinkerton.
🌴 Favorite place to visit? Any national park! Yosemite is probably my favorite though.
🎶 Favorite artist? Current favorite is probably The Menzingers.
👩🏫 Fav part of your job? Connecting with students and sharing an appreciation for all things science. Also, my fellow teachers are pretty great!
🐶 Favorite Activity? Mrs. Chaplin and I love hiking with our dog Birdie, so we are outside any chance we get.

Pinkerton Academy has recently become a registered apprenticeship program, supporting potential educators. Sponsored by the New Hampshire Department of Labor, the program allows employees at Pinkerton to engage in a competency-based program of on-the-job learning and related instruction at a college that leads to becoming a NHED licensed educator.
