Monthly Update - February 2024
February 27th, 2024
February 27, 2024
At the last State Board of Education meeting, I was joined by Doug Cullen, manager of career services, Ashley LeClair, welding instructor, and Josh Merrill from SL Chasse to present opportunities for connections with the business community. It allowed us to share about the many opportunities our students have to work alongside and learn from so many businesses in our communities. The learning that occurs in the classroom is put into play at these businesses. Our faculty and staff do an excellent job of making learning come to life in the classroom, and we are fortunate to work with so many great business partners who help further the education of our students.
We have been fortunate with weather and other factors this winter, and the building construction progress remains on schedule. MEP and HVAC rough-ins have been completed on the first floor and that process continues on the second floor. The third-floor slab has been laid and the vertical build continues. The southwest corner of the building is at the parapet height. It is exciting to see the height of the building and to be able to further envision its fit within our campus. Over the next month, the third floor will be built and then the roof will be added to the building.
Work on our strategic plan continues to progress. The feedback from the community forum in the fall has helped to focus on big goals for the next three to five years. The strategic plan committee has been meeting monthly and putting in a lot of work in between meetings to work on the goals, initiatives, and strategies that will be molded into the updated plan later this year.
When we return from break, we will be well into semester 2 and the many activities that come with the spring semester. To stay up to date, be sure to read the weekly updates from Mr. Perez, check our website, and follow our social media accounts. We hope to see you at one of the many events and activities through the end of the year.
