Weekly Update - 11/4/22

November 4th, 2022 by Tim Powers

Good afternoon,

Monday was Halloween, and it was nice to see many of our staff and students have fun with the day. Student Council sponsored a competition for faculty costumes, and though there were many groups who did a great job, the IT department won. Mrs. Savage’s FLEX group worked together to create a “Haunted FLEX” and invited any groups who wanted to visit. The group worked together to plan it and assigned roles.  Everyone participated in a way they were comfortable – whether set up and clean up or acting. It was great to see how the group came together to do something fun for their fellow students.

This weekend we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Stockbridge Theatre. Saturday, Louis Prima, Jr. and the Witnesses kick off the celebration. Sunday, there is a student concert that is free and open to the public. During that performance, the chorus room will be dedicated to longtime faculty member, Mr. Thomas Quigley. We invite the Pinkerton community to join us for this special weekend.

Last weekend, boys and girls cross country teams took the division 1 state meet by storm. The teams swept the division 1 meet, both winning the state title! This weekend, they travel to the meet of champions where they will look to earn a birth in the New England meet. The football team opens its tournament action tonight at home against Spaulding while the Varsity Cheer team takes the floor on Sunday in their state meet. Both are competing at PA. This week has been a busy week on campus hosting state tournaments, and many thanks go to the athletic department and the many faculty and staff that help to run the events. Hosting the cheer state meet on Sunday takes a lot of work, and the JV cheer team does a great job of setting up the event and then assisting on that day, all while getting ready for their state competition the following weekend.

The students, faculty, staff, and Pinkerton community are involved in many activities, events, community service, and more. Each week, we look to highlight some but urge you to follow our social media accounts to see up-to-date action and information about what each is doing.

Enjoy the weekend.

Sincerely,

Dr. Timothy J. Powers
