Monthly Update - October 2024

October 22nd, 2024 by Tim Powers

Good afternoon,

I am pleased to report that our construction project continues to progress on schedule and within budget. The floor preparation on the 3rd floor has been completed. We will now move forward with the installation of the flooring. Once the 3rd-floor flooring is finished, we will begin work on the 2nd-floor corridors. All classrooms on both the 2nd and 3rd floors have been completed. Our electrician has successfully installed the lighting on the 3rd floor. They are currently working on the 2nd floor and will then move to the 1st floor. The installation of finishes and casework in the classrooms is ongoing. The binder paving for the project has been completed. We are excited to see the project nearing completion.

We held our first-ever School Safety Night last night which provided an opportunity to connect with families and discuss the procedures we have in place to prevent and respond to emergency situations. We hope to have more events like this to further strengthen the partnership we have with our families and our larger community.

The Start Time Committee will meet again in November. We will continue to look at the possibilities of a later start time for Pinkerton.

The school administration and Board of Trustees are working to finalize the budget for fiscal year 2025-26. Our budget process involves balancing more immediate costs with projects that might be 2 years out. The final budget and tuition rates reflect these considerations. When the process is complete, we will share this information on our website. Our website also includes valuable information on our annual reports, where we highlight work that has been done in the prior year and go into more detail about our budget.

Lastly, I wanted to share about a special project that was recently completed. Art teacher Mr. Oliver Frid had a vision to work with students to paint the top of a piano. Unfortunately, he passed away last year before the project was completed. A group of dedicated students decided to make his vision a reality. Eden Bernazzani '24, Jaspar LaMarsh '24, Ethan Rubchinuk '24, Isabelle Neill '25, Audrey Tavarez '25, and Zeno Rychwa '25 honored his memory by bringing his vision to life with the support of Mr. Roger Gonzalez and Ms. Alicia Blow. Their beautiful work guarantees that Mr. Frid's passion for art will forever be remembered. You can watch a video highlighting the project here.

Sincerely,

Dr. Timothy J. Powers
