Weekly Update - Happy New Year
January 6th, 2023
Good afternoon,
Happy New Year! I hope that the start of 2023 has been good for you, your family, friends, and members of our community. A new year allows us to have a fresh start in many areas of our lives, and while we are still currently in semester 1, a fresh start with semester 2 will be coming soon for our students. As we start 2023, we are grateful for the learning that occurs in the classrooms, on campus, and beyond and the impact that our students have on our communities. Many classes, organizations, and teams are involved in community service activities like AFJROTC who collected over 1,700 clothing items to be donated to the Salvation Army.
There are just two school weeks left before exam week begins. Now is the time to check in with teachers. Subject-specific extra help will be offered in the Media Center in the Academy Building for the next two weeks after school. These sessions are open to any struggling students of all grade levels.
- Monday 1/9 - English
- Tuesday 1/10 - Science
- Wednesday 1/11 - Math
- Thursday 1/12 - Social Studies
- Monday 1/16 - MLK Jr. Day - no school
- Tuesday 1/17 - English & Science
- Wednesday 1/18 - Math
- Thursday 1/19 - Social Studies
On Monday, parents of current 8th graders are invited to attend the 8th Grade Preview Night from 6:00 - 7:30 pm in the Stockbridge Theatre. The event will also be live-streamed to our YouTube channel and available to watch after the event.
Current students can start thinking about courses for next year as well. The course catalog is available on the website, and the selection process will begin 1/31. Now is a good time to start planning and talking with teachers or counselors about what you might want to take.
Sincerely,
Dr. Timothy J. Powers
Head of School
