Despite the rain this summer, the construction project is still on track. Site work is wrapping up and foundation work is the next step. Early in September, the foundation should be set and then vertical construction will begin. The remaining portion of the Social Studies Wing is ready for us to return to for this school year. As you enter our campus, from Pinkerton St., please be mindful of the construction site and follow the signs and directions for the traffic pattern behind the Academy Building to your left when you pull in. 

We have several new people taking on management roles this year. We welcome Paul Vecchione as the new Academic Dean for Science and Michael Sconce as Director of Food Services. Joanna Dillon assumed the role of Director of Health Services this spring, and Heidi Parenti is leaving the English Department to become an Associate Dean of Students for Sophomores.  

Mike Perez started in his role as Associate Head of School this summer, and he is eager to start the school year. We are thrilled to have him as a member of our team and welcome his expertise and perspective.

Today was the first day of new faculty orientation. We are excited about the new faces joining us as well as having a couple returning to Pinkerton as well!  School counselors have also been back on campus, working to set our students up for success. Our buildings and grounds crew has been hard at work all summer. This year was even more challenging for them as they’ve been relocating classrooms due to the construction project. 

The band and fall sports have been underway and that has brought many students and staff back to campus. It has been nice to see more activity on campus over the past few weeks, but we are looking forward to next week when all employees return and students attend their opening day. The schedule for opening days is in the Start of Year Documents on the website and will be sent out in an email from Mr. Perez later this week.

In order to help clarify the roles and responsibilities we each play on campus, the weekly update of school events, and staff and student highlights will be sent out by Mr. Perez each Friday. I will still communicate weekly, but in different ways. Each month, I’ll send one email with updates about some of the projects happening and other work being done (building updates, etc). On the other weeks, I’ll be sharing videos highlighting different voices of PA as well as a podcast about topics in education. And don’t worry, I’m still doing weather calls!

The excitement of the 2023-24 school year is here, and it will be great to see us all return to campus for it.
