Weekly Update 3/31/23

March 31st, 2023 by Tim Powers

Good afternoon,

Earlier this week, Mrs. Tartarilla sent an email about our upcoming Stage II Evacuation Drill scheduled for Friday, April 14th. This will be an important opportunity for us to practice our emergency procedures in the event we need to evacuate campus. It will also be a chance for us to check our emergency communication procedures. Please review the email Mrs. Tartarilla sent for more information.

We are excited to have a team of gaming enthusiasts participate in an NHIAA sponsored Super Smash Bros. Tournament this Saturday at SNHU. The tournament will run from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. on the second floor of the dining hall on the SNHU campus. The public is welcome. The games will also be live-streamed at https://twitch.tv/snhuesports. Pinkerton's very first Esports Team includes: Landon Swinarski, William Gagnon, Jonathan Edwards, Connor Shappell , and Adam Velez. Their coach is faculty member, Michelle Pace. Good luck team!

On Thursday, March 23rd and Friday, March 24th, 15 students from Pinkerton's chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) attended the FBLA State Leadership Conference at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Manchester, NH with their advisers, Mrs. Darlene Watkins and Mr. Don Crooker.  Students participated in various leadership workshops and perseverance training, helped to elect next year's state officers, collaborated and bonded with members of FBLA chapters across the state and competed in various events. We are proud of how these 15 students represented Pinkerton Academy at this event.  You can find the accolades which were bestowed upon them for their efforts and the accolades bestowed upon the entire Pinkerton Academy FBLA chapter for their efforts throughout the entire school year on our website

The Southern New Hampshire Spring College Fair will be held in the Hackler Gymnasium on Wednesday, April 5th from 6-8 pm. Over 150 colleges will be there along with military recruiters and apprenticeship programs. Admission is free, and we hope our students will take advantage of this great opportunity.

The Leadership Council of Athletics with the help of Video Production has taken on the endeavor of creating a video series that focuses on stress, community, grief, and mental health around Pinkerton Academy. The goal is to start talking with each other to get to know each other. They plan to interview different members of our community and shed light on the topics that affect us all. This has been completely student-driven, and the first episode aired today via our social media. We are very proud of this project and all who are involved.

Have a good weekend.

Sincerely,

Dr. Timothy J. Powers
Head of School
