Weekly Update 4/19/24

April 19th, 2024 by Mike Perez

Pinkerton Families and Friends,

As we approach Spring Break, I'm hopeful that the warm weather ahead will provide us all with an opportunity to regroup and recharge for the remaining weeks of the school year.  It's hard to believe that the year is nearly over. This week, leading into the break, I'd like to spotlight the Pinkerton Academy Math Department under the leadership of Associate Head of Academics, Ms. Jenny Walker.

With a team of dedicated educators, the Math department is committed to providing a comprehensive and engaging curriculum that meets the diverse needs of our student body.  In our math classrooms, you'll find innovative teaching methods tailored to promote critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and mathematical literacy. From algebra and geometry to calculus and statistics, we offer a wide range of courses designed to challenge and inspire students at every level.  Our teachers are passionate about mathematics and deeply invested in the success of each student. They strive to create a supportive and inclusive atmosphere where students feel empowered to ask questions, collaborate with peers, and explore all aspects of mathematics.  Whether students are preparing for college, pursuing careers in any type of math field, or simply seeking to develop their analytical skills, the math department at Pinkerton Academy equips them with the knowledge to succeed.

MATHEMATICS DEPARTMENT MISSION
The Pinkerton Academy Mathematics department’s mission is for all students to learn mathematical content and a variety of problem-solving techniques.

MATHEMATICS DEPARTMENT VISION
Pinkerton Academy Mathematics students will aspire to the highest standards of experience in their learning. They will gain critical knowledge, skills and deeper understanding in order to problem-solve, think analytically, and utilize the appropriate technology necessary to enter college, the military, or the workforce.

Weekly Highlights:

End of the Year Calendar:  The Red/White Monthly Calendar has been updated on the website with the underclass exam days noted. An email will go out after break with reminders about exam days.

Access Control:  More buildings continue to be brought online for our access control. We strongly encourage students to have their ID cards with them at all times. As all buildings are brought online and we head into the next school year, it will be required for students looking to enter a secured building.

Spanish Exchange:  The World Language department is looking for families to host 21 students from Spain. The exchange will take place from September 21-26, 2024. Students who host will be given the first opportunity to travel to Spain in June of 2025 for 2 weeks to complete the exchange. For more information or to sign up, email [email protected] or [email protected]
