Weekly Update 2/23/2024

February 23rd, 2024 by Mike Perez

Pinkerton Families and Friends,

As we head into February break, I wanted to take a moment to say that this break offers a well-deserved opportunity for rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation. It's a time to recharge our batteries and take care of ourselves both mentally and physically.  Whether you are traveling or staying close, please be safe and enjoy the time off.

This week I would like to profile our very own Pinkerton Academy Safety and Security Team led by the Director of Safety and Security and School Marshal, Eric Kester.  Our security team consists of three school marshals who are former police officers with shared experience in SWAT, Special Operations, and Detective units.  In addition to the three marshals, we have seven safety and security personnel with diverse backgrounds in security, including military, law enforcement, and building security.  Because of our devoted security team, we are able to keep the campus secure and supervised 24 hours a day. This type of security has allowed us to identify and address potential safety issues quickly and efficiently.  These dedicated individuals also are around campus making connections with all members of the PA community.  They are escorting visitors/ students to a specific location and assisting in any campus needs we may have.  Most importantly, they are a constant, consistent presence on campus. While they may need to be stern and serious at times, they also spend time connecting with students and are that “One Trusted Adult”  some kids need.  They are all true assets to this campus.

I would like to give a HUGE SHOUT OUT to the individuals who make our campus safe every day!  Eric Kester, Mike Houle, Dan Komenda, Jim Balser, Chris Crowell, Andy Faucher, Joanne Harrington, Jane Matteuzzi, Rob Raczkowski, Rich Ramey, and our newest hire Jonathan Plumpton –  thank you so much for all you do for our school, our students, our staff, and our community.

 Weekly Highlights:

Classical Society Competition - In a particularly heated competition, Matt Snodgrass and Tyler Abrantes recently won 1st & 2nd place respectively at the state level in the Classical Association of New England's annual high school essay contest. Matt then went on to compete region-wide and emerged the victor of the whole contest.

National Technical Honor Society  - This week 95 students were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society. These students have been chosen for their exceptional academic achievements, leadership qualities, and dedication to their Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. You can read more, including a list of inductees, on our website
