Pinkerton Academy students named National Merit Scholarship Program Semifinalists

October 11th, 2022

Headmaster Timothy Powers and Dean of Students Susanne Tartarilla are proud to announce that two Pinkerton Academy students have been recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Program for their exceptional academic promise. Sarah King and Jacob Lebroda, both of Derry, have been named Semifinalists and will apply to be considered as Finalists in the scholarship program.

King and Lebroda are two of over 16,000 Semifinalists in the 68th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Their application to be named Finalists will continue their consideration for some 7,250 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $28 million that will be offered next spring. To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition. About 95 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and approximately half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title.
