Monthly Update - January 2024

January 23rd, 2024 by Tim Powers

January 23, 2024

The building construction progress remains on schedule. The masonry for the 2nd-floor bearing walls continues to be built and is on target to be completed in early February. Simultaneously, the 2nd-floor rough-ins within the CMU walls will be completed. Last week, the 3rd-floor steel began being placed to allow the vertical build to continue. The 1st-floor will have the metal framing completed in early February, and the MEP rough-in continue to be worked on. All this is to say that the project is on track. You can watch a video of the progress over time here.

As we start the second semester, paying attention to next year's course selection is important. An email regarding course selection went out from Mr. Lee on January 2nd. Please refer to that email for information on the process.

The Board of Trustees recently approved the school calendar 2024-2025. They also approved making graduation day (Friday, June 7th) an early release day. These updated calendars are all available on our website.

Since we have had our first remote learning day of the year, I wanted to remind you that our last day of school is currently Friday, June 14th. To avoid us coming back on a Monday, any inclement weather days will be remote learning days unless there is a reason they cannot be (power outages, etc). I try to make any calls as soon as reasonably possible, but there are times that the call has to be made at the last minute. Our website and social media pages will also post delays and cancellations. Please be sure your contact information is up to date here: Alert System

Don’t forget to check out Our Voices of PA and On Campus with Dr. Powers video series as well as our podcast Educational Insights with Dr. Powers: A Podcast for Lifelong Learners. You can find links to all of these and to our monthly letters on our website – Head of School’s Communications page.

As we head into the second half of the year, I’m excited to see all that will be accomplished by our students and staff. Our seniors have just one semester left of high school before they head off to their next endeavors. We look forward to the upcoming celebrations of the Class of 2024 in recognition of all their work. Keep up the great effort!

Sincerely,

Dr. Timothy J. Powers
