Weekly Update 5/5/23

May 5th, 2023 by Tim Powers

Good afternoon,

The Astros United Club presented the annual Catwalk for a Cause Fashion Show to raise money and awareness for mental health and for people affected by mental illness. They raised $1500 for Reach1 Teach1 Love1, an organization that advocates for change in the stigma of mental health and suicide. We are so proud of the work Astros United does.

Our student newspaper The Launchpad recently earned Third Place from the New Hampshire Press Association (NHPA) for Excellence in Journalism 2022 at the NHPA Student Awards luncheon. Before the winners were announced, local journalists shared their critiques of the entrants' work. Congratulations to the three student journalists who attended: Lexi Zimmerman, Madison Harressey, and Nadia Provencher, and to their adviser Mr. Timothy Cain!

Last night we had the opportunity to recognize our employees at our annual appreciation dinner. The hard work and dedication to our students, each other, and Pinkerton Academy was displayed through the words shared about the recipients of the Shepard and Longevity Awards. One thing that impresses me every year is the longevity of many employees. Guy Couture was recognized for 45 years while Stephanie Raudonis and Sue Tartarilla were recognized for 35 years. The recipients of the Shepard Awards were Dan Holm, Dave Estes, Pam Gaines, Tina Sturdivant, Ben Winchell, Janet DeBenedetto, Derek Earle, Brenda Stribling, and Derek Lee. The full list of last night’s Shepard and longevity award recipients is on our website.

Have a good weekend.

Sincerely,

Dr. Timothy J. Powers
